Our History

In the summer of 1980 God issued a call to Pastor Fred Wiesen and his wife, Nancy to leave their comfortable San Angelo, Texas home to begin a new work in the Houston area.  The Wiesen’s desire was to reach out to those who were without a personal knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ by sharing and teaching them the truth of God’s Word.

By faith every need was met along the way as Fred and Nancy began to knock on doors in Spring, Texas.  Much to their amazement they found that 80 to 90% of the people they came in contact with had never heard the Gospel message presented to them in a personal way.  God blessed the faithfulness of their efforts,  and on September 29, 1980 the first Bible study was held in the Wiesen home with fifteen people in attendance.

In January 1981 twenty acres of land was purchased near the intersection of Stuebner Airline Rd. and Spring Cypress Rd. in Spring, Texas.  “An acorn of truth and God” was the early theme adopted by the church.  Because of their faithfulness to God and His Word the church has grown from a small acorn into the North Oaks Baptist Church of today.  For over twenty years that seed of faith has grown just like the many oak trees that adorn the beautiful church grounds.  God has richly blessed the family of North Oaks Baptist Church and all of the honor and glory goes to God..

If you and your family are looking for a church home we pray that you might consider North Oaks. Come visit soon!
