Meet Our Pastor

On July 21, 2024, the Elders, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, announced that they had unanimously approved the calling of Gabriel Q. Orr as the Senior Pastor of North Oaks Baptist Church in Spring, TX. A native of Memphis, TN, Gabriel comes from a Christian family with a “preaching” pedigree. Having accepted Christ at age eight, he came of age serving the body of Christ at Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS, under the leadership of his uncle, Pastor Dr. Bartholomew Orr.

At 17, Gabriel Orr received the revelation of God’s plan to call him to preach the Gospel and work a great ministry through him. Upon graduating High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he faithfully served our nation for over nine years before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Pastor says, “God was pleased to use the Marine Corps to teach me how to lead His people.” With serving in his DNA, he joined the Houston Police Department, where he has faithfully served the citizens of Houston for over 16 years and counting.

Pastor Orr answered God’s call on his life and preached his first sermon on April 10, 2011. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from the College of Biblical Studies Houston in December 2022 (Summa Cum Laude) and is currently pursuing his M.Div. at The Bible Seminary in Katy, TX. Over the last ten years, he has faithfully served in numerous ministries at Second Baptist Church, Houston, TX, under the leadership of Dr. Ed Young. Pastor Orr says, “God was pleased to use Second Baptist to teach me how to love His people.”

Pastor Orr is married to his lovely and gifted wife Corina, whom he refers to as the key to his success – in as much as if he is to be the leader that God has called him to be for this body of Christ, she must be the suitable helper that God has called her to be for him. He is convinced: “God is using Corina to teach me humility before His people!” Together, they have four adult daughters, Monica, Gabriela, Amari, and Andrea, and one son, 3-year-old Gabriel Jr.
